CONVOY – It seems to go against unconventional wisdom to open a business during an economic downturn, but Kelly and Jason Burns are anything but conventional. Their business, The Secret Garden Floral and Gifts in Convoy, is celebrating their 10th anniversary, and they are inviting the public to join them on Feb. 10 for an open house with extended hours 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Valentine purchases made that day will be discounted an additional 10 percent to celebrate the milestone.

Kelly Burns has over 30 years of experience in floral artistry following his graduation from the Indianapolis Floral Design School. He takes pride in his ability to personalize arrangements and has customized floral displays to include everything from bingo items to centerpieces for a governor’s luncheon in Indiana. Co-owner Jason Burns has 15 years of business experience and is proud of the high quality of customer service and strong community ties the Secret Garden offers to the Van Wert area. Girl Scouts, Thomas Edison Adult Workshop, Convoy Preschool and even a local farm group have all taken part in the educational workshops and activities with the staff. The shop is also active with the Convoy Days celebration and is an active member of the Convoy Business Association.

The Secret Garden offers not only fresh cut flowers and permanent botanical arrangements, but a large gift line that ranges from cards and candles to stuffed animals and features locally made products and Amish baked goods. Also offered is a large selection of memorial gifts. FTD recently awarded the shop the Master Florist Award, the highest honor to achieve within the wire service.

Daily delivery is available to all of Van Wert County and Decatur businesses and homes. Shop hours are typically Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. but will have extended hours to include Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. the week of Valentines Day.

Stop in and visit The Secret Garden at 109 W. Tully St. Convoy, Ohio, or give them a call at 419-749-4181.
