VAN WERT — The Ohio City Blue Ribbon Workers 4-H Club decided to host a pet supply drive to collect much-needed items for the Van Wert Shelter Pets after the group was visited by Rich Strunkenburg, Van Wert County dog warden. They learned about the Shelter Pet group headed by Carole Johnston and Tammy Cugliari and how they relay on donations of items to keep the shelter open and in operation.
Upon approaching local TSC store manager, they learned that it was possible to host the drive to coincide with an upcoming pet adoption day that the Shelter Pets group was hosting. Shortly thereafter, Stoneco quarry stepped in and agreed to help out financially and also to come out and lend a hand with the drive as well. The event proved to be successful and the donation was happily given to the Shelter Pets group for use in their facilities and also to foster care (kitty and canine) homes in the area as well. Anyone needing more information or who would like to make a donation to the pets can contact Van Wert Shelter Pets group via Facebook online.
