CONVOY – Instead of a gift exchange this year, the fourth grade classes at Crestview Elementary decided it just might be better to give than receive. In doing so, with the help of their teachers, they chose to make donations toward three different charities. Students gathered baby items like diapers and wipes for the PLC Health Center, pet food for the Humane Society of Van Wert County and school supplies for the Liberian Children’s Ministry.

On Monday, representatives from each organization, Kim Clayton, Lisa Holloway and Mike Saylor, stopped by to accept the donations and to tell the students a little more about how their donations would be used. In reflecting on the experience, many students agreed with the sentiment that it felt much better to give than to receive this holiday season.
