County Foundation distributes donations

More than $284,000 was distributed Thursday by the Van Wert County Foundation, supporting several area organizations. Proceeds from funds established with the foundation are directed as per the instructions given with each fund. Representatives of the organizations posed with foundation board members for pictures in celebration of the help given through the bequests administered by the Van Wert County Foundation.
Receiving contributions this year:
Van Wert County Hospital’s ER project was granted $500,000 from the Julia M. and Lawrence Bert Strete Fund and the James A. and Minnie C. Kesler Fund.
Vantage Career Center was granted $37,500 from the Rose R. and Ellis C. Lampke Fund by Frieda Rothacker.
First Presbyterian Church was granted $4,100 from the Leslie Endowment Fund and $27,500 from the James P. Johnson Fund.
The YMCA of Van Wert was granted $25,000 from the Alice B. Andersen Fund.
The YWCA of Van Wert County was granted $25,000 from the Associated Charities Fund, the John E. Alspach Fund, the Walter A. Hoffman Fund, the Clyde S. Fergus Fund and the Oscar and Norman C. Feigert Fund.
The Van Wert County Council on Aging was granted $20,000 for 2013 and $10,000 for 2014 from the Julia M. and Lawrence Bert Strete Fund.
The Van Wert County Agricultural Society was granted $10,000 for commercial building improvements from the James A. and Minnie C. Kesler Fun and the William J. Flickinger Fund.
The Van Wert City Schools Music Department was granted $8,700 from the Leslie Endowment Fund and $500 for choir robes from the Charles Lincoln Ireland Fund.
Ohio State University Extension Services was granted $8,600 for a 4-H intern from the Black Inc. Fund.
Van Wert Soil and Water Conservation District was granted $5,000 for a water quality study from the Julia M. and Lawrence Bert Strete Fund.
Salvation Army of Van Wert County was granted $5,000 from the Ilo D. and Carlos E. Miller Fund.
Van Wert Youth Baseball was granted $4,000 for batting cages from the Harold B. and Dortha F. Cully Fund.
The Brumback Library was granted $3,900 from the Gary L. Tomczak Fund.
Van Wert Special Olympics was granted $3,000 from the Oscar J. Scaer Fund.
Lincolnview Local Schools Music Department was granted $1,500 from the Gaylord and Eliza Saltzgaber Fund and $1,000 for choir robes from the Mary Irene Eisenhauer Fund.
Crestview Local Schools Music Department was granted $1,500 from the Gaylord and Eliza Saltzgaber Fund.
Ohio State Extension Services was granted $1,000 for the Van Wert Signage Project from the David L. Brumback Fun and the Vernon H. Evans Fund.
