VAN WERT — Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and is the only leading cause of death without a way to prevent, cure or even slow its progression.

To help individuals and families recognize the signs of Alzheimer’s disease, the Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, will host “Know the 10 Signs: Early Detection Matters,” a free community workshop to be held on Wednesday, April 16, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Van Wert Council on Aging, 220 Fox Road, Van Wert.

The workshop covers the 10 warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and will explain the difference between normal aging and dementia, as well as tips for maintaining brain health. Early diagnosis gives individuals a chance to seek treatment and plan for the future. Registration is requested. Call the Alzheimer’s Association at 1-800-272-3900.
