  • Van Wert BOE presented with new look of district

    VAN WERT – For the past several months Van Wert City Schools has been updating their website, logos, slogans, and other marketing tools in order to match the vision of the district. During Wednesday’s Board of Education meeting, marketing and public relations correspondents Kristi Fuerst and Nellie Schmidt presented the new look of the district to the board.

  • Gypsy coming to Civic Theatre

    VAN WERT – Gypsy is opening Thursday, Sept. 21 with Jerry Zimmerman as the director at the Van Wert Civic Theater. The auditions began in August for Gypsy, which is a musical filled with singing and dancing.

  • Cougars, Indians to meet near top of league standings

    VAN WERT — A season ago, Van Wert and Shawnee combined for a 1-19 record, with that lone win being the Indians’ 28-26 victory at Eggerss Stadium.

     

  • One killed in three vehicle crash on U.S. 30

    Van Wert County – The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three vehicle fatal crash that occurred on U.S. 30 west of Richey Road in Van Wert County.

  • Mexico earthquake rescuers race to free girl, other survivors

    MEXICO CITY (AP) — The wiggling fingers of a young girl trapped in the rubble of her collapsed school in Mexico City raised hopes among hundreds of rescuers working furiously Wednesday to try to free her — a drama that played out at dozens of buildings toppled by the powerful earthquake that killed at least 230 people.

  • Movies can be a great escape for people. I know I certainly love watching a movie I’ve never seen before and getting lost in it. Watching movies at home can be nice and relaxing, but there is nothing quite like going to a movie theater and seeing a movie on a screen so big that it fills your entire line of sight, and hearing it so loud on surround sound that it feels like you’re right there.
