The waiting stopped in the late afternoon hours on Tuesday. Scenes like this one on Crawford St. in Van Wert were commonplace, sending residents inside. The winter storm which was predicted to drop 9.5 inches of snow on Van Wert County began with a fury, and at press time winds were already making traveling difficult, especially in the country. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. on Wednesday. During the day and evening hours Wednesday, the big worry will be blowing snow and drifting conditions. A possible weekend snow storm is now predicted to go south of the area, but colder temperatures will be on tap for the next few days.
