VAN WERT — An 18-year-old Ohio City man was sentenced Tuesday in Van Wert County Court of Common Pleas on two counts of third-degree felony gross sexual imposition. Harley Maroney will spend one year in prison for the offenses. He had been arraigned on two counts of rape, but those charges were reduced in exchange for his guilty pleas. The sentenced handed down by Judge Charles D. Steele included 12 months of prison time on each count, to be served concurrently. Maroney was also ordered to pay court costs. He was declared a Tier 3 sexual offender and must register with law enforcement every 180 days for the next 25 years.

A Van Wert man was given prison time on a theft charge and a parole violation. Terry Warren, Jr. 27, was sentenced to six months in prison on the fifth-degree felony theft charge. Warren was also found guilty of violating his post-release control in a separate case and was ordered to serve one year in prison consecutive to the other sentence.

Stacy Young, 37, Van Wert, was sentenced to three years of community control on a fifth-degree felony drug possession charge. Young must also serve 30 days in jail, perform 200 hours of community service, give up her drivers license for six months and pay fees and court costs. A nine-month prison sentence was deferred pending the successful completion of community control.

Five persons appeared in court Tuesday for violations of probation or treatment in lieu agreements. Shay Ringwald, 25, Middle Point, admitted to violating his probation by failing to report to his probation officer, failing to pay his court obligations and failing to attend treatment at Westwood Behavioral as ordered. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison with credit given for 233 days served.



Zachary Baker, 27, Van Wert, admitted to violating his probation by failing to report to his probation officer and by failing to notify the probation office of his current address. Baker was re-sentenced to three years community control under the previous conditions, plus 26 days of Electronically-monitored house arrest or jail. A nine-month prison term was deferred pending the successful completion of community control.

Shaun Duckett, 23, Delphos, denied violating his probation by failing to report a contact with police, using prohibited drugs, and failing to report to his probation officer. Duckett was ordered held in the Van Wert County Jail without bond until a May 20 court hearing.

William Smith, 37, Delphos, denied violating his probation by refusing treatment at the WORTH Center in Lima. Smith was ordered held in the Van Wert County Jail without bond until a May 20 hearing.

Tristan Boaz, 22, Van Wert, appeared for violating the conditions of her treatment in lieu of conviction program. The hearing was continued to allow Boaz another chance at treatment.
