Celina Lake Festival features unique events

CELINA — Time for a great weekend at the lake. The Celina Lake Festival is set for July 25-27, with many events suited to please a crowd seeking the water.
Actually, the festival began Monday with the crowning of 2014 Miss Lake Festival Emily Werling, Miss Lake Festival Outstanding Teen Mackenzie Lange and Miss Lake Festival Princess Camp Asjah Lim. There is still plenty of reasons to make the drive to Celina for the festival.
Friday events include the Cruise In and Car Show from 6-11 p.m. at Lakeshore Park by the Hot Water Hole. Get an up close look at the cars you drive right into the water at the Amphicar Swim Inn beginning at 7:45 p.m. at Lakeshore Park. Friday night music will be furnished by Country Mile at the Entertainment Tent. And cap off the day with the fireworks display at 10 p.m. over Grand Lake St. Marys.
On Saturday, the 5K Run kicks things off at 8 a.m. followed 15 minutes later by the Women’s Walk For Wellness. Register for the Pleasure Boat and Car Poker Run from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Celina Eagles. A second day of downtown sidewalk sales will go on from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. The Craft Show will continue from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. at Lakeshore Park. COSI on Wheels will educate in a fun was from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Pony rides will be given all day at Lakeshore Park.
The 44th annual Collector Car Show will be held from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The Celina Lake Festival Pet Show judging will begin at 9:30 a.m. A Zumba and Bokwa free class will be given in the Entertainment Tent starting at 11 a.m. Judging for the Bed Races begins at 4:15 p.m. Registration is from 3:30-4 p.m. and racing starts at 5 p.m. downtown in front of the Courthouse. The Motorcycle Parade and Collector Car Parade is set for 6:15 p.m. Then the Grand Parade with over 150 units steps off at 6:30 p.m. Saturday night will feature the band SuperVillin playing at the Entertainment Tent from 8-11:30 p.m. The Electric Mile Run will begin at 10 p.m.
Sunday features the Pancake and Sausage Breakfast from 8:30-10:30 a.m at the Community Tent. The Community Church Service will be held under the Entertainment Tent at 10 a.m. Following the service Paul Pfau and Connor Pledger will perform as part of their Summer Acoustic Tour. The Chicken Barbecue runs from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. During that same time, Snuffy’s Water Adventures will be featured at the Sand Beach on Lake Shore Dr. The Childrens’ Fishing Derby will be held near the Shelter House from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The midway rides will be open from 12-4 p.m. with wristbands priced at $15. Afternoon brings the Garden Tractor Pull, Kiddie Tractor Pull, ODNR Division of Watercraft Canoe Adventure, Mercer County Marksmen at the Archery and BB Gun Range, and free boat rides at the Shelter House from 1-4 p.m. The day’s final event will be “Duck For a Cure,” beginning at 2 p.m. at the Hot Water Hole.
