VAN WERT – Valarie Dean, 25, Delphos, was sentenced to 8 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter, a felony of the first degree, and 30 months to be served concurrently for endangering children, a felony of the third degree on Wednesday in Common Pleas Court.

Dean, mother of deceased 15-month old Hayden Ivan Ridinger, was charged with the felonies after Ridinger was found dead in November 2016. She found the infant after noon on Nov. 16, 2016, unresponsive. Dean told officers that when she got home from work that morning, she believed her son, who had been sick, was sleeping, and she went to bed.

Dean's former boyfriend, Christopher Peters, 27, was found guilty of aggravated murder, felonious assault, and child endangering, in October in connection with Ridinger's death and was sentenced to life in prison.

Dean had changed her pleas to guilt in November, 2017. She was sentenced to 8 years for manslaughter and 30 months for child endangering, both to be served concurrently during Wednesday's trial. She received credit for 6 days already served and was ordered to pay court costs.

ARRAIGNMENTS (ALL entered not guilty pleas)

Nicholas Hunter, 36, Convoy, was charged with violation of a civil protection order, F5. He was released on a surety bond with an order to have no contact and not be within 1,000 feet of the victim. Pretrial was set for Feb. 28, 2018 at 8 a.m.

Erin Bowersox, 25, Van Wert, was charged with aggravated possession of drugs, F5. She was released on a surety bond with pretrial set for Feb. 28, 2018 at 8 a.m.

Lester Sulfridge, Jr., 58, Van Wert, was charged with aggravated possession of drugs, F5. He was released on a surety bond with pretrial set for Feb. 28, 2018 at 8 a.m.

Brendan Bergman, 22, Van Wert, was charged with illegal conveyance of drugs onto the grounds of a specified government facility, F3. He was released on a surety bond with pretrial set for Feb. 21, 2018 at 8 a.m.

Douglas Scott, 66, Van Wert, was charged with two counts of theft, F5. He was released on a surety bond with pretrial set for March 15, 2018 10:30 a.m.

Zachariah Germann, 30, Van Wert, was charged wtih two counts of felonious assault, F2. His bond was set at $20,000 cash or commercial surety with an order to have no contact with victim, and pretrial was set for Feb. 14, 2018 at 2:30 p.m.

CHANGES OF PLEAS

Johnathan Murphy, Jr., 32, Van Wert, trespass in habitation, F4, changed his plea to guilty and then requested and was granted, intervention in lieu of conviction and the case was stayed pending completion of the treatment programs.

PROBATION VIOLATIONS

Samantha Lacy, 25, Van Wert, admitted to violating her probation by having a positive drug test, lying to probation officer, and failing to complete drug court. She was sentenced to four years community control under the same conditions, up to six months at WORTH Center, and 30 days jail at a later date.

Ashley Burk, 29, Van Wert, admitted to violating her probation by having a positive drug test. She was sentenced to 60 days jail.

Adam Partin, 20, Delphos, admitted to violating his probation by being arrested for another crime and for failing to report to probation. He was sentenced to 90 days, and to remain in jail until on electronic house arrest on Feb. 12, then remainder of the 90 days on EMHA.
