VAN WERT – Valarie Dean, 25, of Delphos, changed her plea to guilty to involuntary manslaughter, a felony of the first degree, and child endangering, a felony of the third degree.

Dean was charged with felonies after her son, 15-month old Hayden Ivan Ridinger, was found dead in November 2016. She found the infant after noon on Nov. 16, 2016, unresponsive. Dean told officers that when she got home from work that morning, she believed her son, who had been since, was sleeping and she went to bed.

Dean's former boyfriend, Christopher Peters, 27, was found guilty of aggravated murder, felonious assault, and child endangering, in October in connection with Ridinger's death.

The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Dean for Jan. 24, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.

ARRAIGNMENT

John McRedmond, 23, Van Wert, entered a not guilty plea to aggravated possession of drugs, F5. He was released on a surety bond and pretrial set for Dec. 13 at 8 a.m.

SENTENCING

Justin Wright, OVI, M1, and negligent assault, M3. Sentenced to: negligent assault, 60 days jail or 60 days electronic house arrest. OVI: 180 days jail with 177 suspended, 72 hours jail or driver’s intervention program by Feb. 28, 2018, 2 years community control, substance abuse assessment and treatment, Driver’s License suspended one year. Fined $375 plus costs.

CHANGE OF PLEA

Tawnie Johnson, 28, Van Wert, changed her plea to huilty to possession of meth, F5. Two other possession charges were dismissed for her plea. The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Jan. 10, 2018 at 9 a.m.

TIME WAIVER

BOND VIOLATION

Dwaine Watts, 31, Ottawa, admitted by violating his bond by testing positive for drugs. His new bond was set at $10,000 cash or commercial surety and pretrial set for Jan. 10, 2018 at 8 a.m.

SENTENCINGS

Lisa Dull, 54, Van Wert, aggravated possession of drugs, F5. Sentenced to five years community control, 60 days jail at later date, 200 hours community service, substance abuse assessment and treatment, complete all programs, drug court assessment, three years intensive probation, ordered to pay monthly probation fee, partial appointed counsel fees, and court costs.

Elmeco Crisp, 41, Van Wert, trafficking heroin, F5, and trafficking heroin, F4, Sentenced to nine months prison for the F5 count, with credit for 95 days served. Also sentenced to 16 months prison on the F4 count, consecutive. Also ordered to pay court costs.
