Van Wert City Police reports

After a traffic stop, Kara N. Young, 34, of Van Wert, was arrested for OVI, possession of methamphetamine and drug abuse instruments. A passenger in the Young vehicle, Nathan A. Dunn, 35, of Van Wert, was also charged with possession of drug abuse instruments. Additional charges are pending.

Christopher Frank, 19, of Van Wert, was arrested for a warrant out of Van Wert Municipal Court.

1/6 4:40 p.m.

April R. Warner, 47, of Paulding, was arrested after allegedly shoplifting from the Walmart Super Center.

1/6 10:40 p.m.

Thomas E. West, 53, of Middle Point, was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant while at the Van Wert County Hospital ER.

1/8 4:38 p.m.

Alissa N. Hershey, 31, of Lima, was arrested for an outstanding warrant issued by Van Wert Juvenile Court.

1/9 9:32 p.m.

Officers were assigned to Walmart in reference to an incident of theft. After investigation, Brendan M. Bergman, 22, of Van Wert, was charged with one count of theft.

Van Wert County Sheriff Office reports

Oren D. Kerhes, 55, of Elgin, was arrested for assault.

Ana K. Hernandez, 26, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was taken into custody for no valid operator’s license and being under suspension in the state of Indiana.

Delphos City Police reports

On 1-4-2018, officers met with a male at the Delphos Police Department in regards to a theft complaint. The male told officers that his credit card had been used make to purchases at a jewelry store in Michigan. The male provided a receipt which showed that a female, who is a Michigan resident, had made the purchases. The incident is being investigated by the Detective Bureau.

On 1-4-2018, officers met with a female at the police department who wished to report a telecommunications harassment incident. The female told officers that the father of her child has been calling her employer making false statements in an attempt to get her fired. The report, along with emails from the employer, will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review of possible charges.

On 1-5-2018, officers met with a male in the 500 block of South Canal Street in reference to a civil child custody exchange. The male told officers that his ex-wife was refusing to give him their two children for visitation. Officers advised the male that without an emergency court order officers could not force his ex-wife to release the children to him. A report was taken and the male was advised to seek advice through his attorney.

On 1-5-2018, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West 5th Street for a possible burglary in progress call. Upon arrival officers made contact with a male in the apartment of the complainant. Officers found that the male was intoxicated and had gone into his neighbor’s apartment by mistake. The male, 57 year old Michael F. Jackson, of Delphos, will be charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication. He will appear in Van Wert Municipal Court to face the charge.

On 1-6-2018, a female called the police department to report that she had been attacked by a dog. Officers arrived to the residence in the 400 block of Suthoff Street and met with the female. She stated that a dog charged at her and jumped on her while she was walking out of her sister’s residence. She stated that the dog did not bite her, but seemed aggressive. Officers then spoke with the owner of the dog. She stated that the dog did run up to the female, but did not jump on her. The report will be forwarded to the dog warden’s office for further review.

On 1-6-2018, officers were dispatched to the 24000 block of Lincoln Highway to investigate a domestic violence complaint. Officers arrived and met with a female who was being attended to by Delphos EMS. The female, through an interpreter, told officers that her boyfriend had struck her in the face. The female was transported to the hospital for further treatment. The male, 29 year old, Omar Garcia Campos of Delphos, was taken into custody and transported to the Van Wert County Jail. He will appear in Van Wert Municipal Court to face the charge of domestic violence.

On 1-7-2018, officers took a report from a male who stated that a large jar of change was taken from his residence. The male told officers that he wasn’t sure of the exact date that it was taken and was unsure of a possible suspect. There was no forced entry into the residence. The incident remains under investigation.

On 1-9-2018, officers along with Delphos EMS responded to a residence in the 200 block of North Main Street for an unresponsive male. Officers located the male at which time EMS personnel began administering aid. The male soon regained consciousness and refused further treatment. The male, 30 year old Joshua James Carroll of Van Wert, will be charged with disorderly conduct as well as possession of drug abuse instruments. He will appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charges.
