  • Van Wert County Fair opens gates for 159th year
    The 159th Van Wert County Fair opened its gates on Wednesday allowing judging, animal weigh-ins, and attendees to grab their first bites of fair food.
  • Local youth sentenced on sex charge
    On Wednesday, 18-year-old Austin K. Zuver was sentenced by Judge Martin Burchfield to serve 180 days in the Van Wert County Jail plus another 60 days in jail for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a felony of the fourth degree.
  • Mercer Co. authorities team up for largest heroin seizure in that county
    The fight to get people away from heroin is a combined effort across northwest Ohio, and on Tuesday several agencies in Mercer County worked together to make what is believed to be the largest seizure of heroin in Mercer County. According to Mercer Co. Sheriff Jeff Grey, a total of 158 capsules of heroin were seized through the cooperative efforts of the Sheriff’s Office’s Heroin Interdiction Team (H.I.T.) and the Grand Lake Drug Task Force.

    MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Floyd Eugene Wilson, 78, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, entered Heaven’s gates on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015. 
  • Dean Jones, boyish Disney star, dies at 84

     Dean Jones, whose boyish good looks and all-American manner made him Disney's favorite young actor for such lighthearted films as "That Darn Cat!" and "The Love Bug," died of Parkinson's disease in Los Angeles on Sept. 1. He was 84.
